AAMSU stages dharna in Kokrajhar
The All Assam Minority Students Union(AAMSU) stages two-hour sit-in-dharna in front DC office in Kokrajhar with banner, placards demanding fully compensation, rehabilitation of BTAD 2012 riot affected peoples on Monday. Hundreds of activists from AAMSU and affected peoples from Bodo,Muslim,Koch-Rajbongsis communities are joined hands in the dharna with banner, placards and shouted slogans seeking fulfillment of compensations as promised by government post riots. The riot affected peoples are still fcaing several hardships in their living due to non getting of compensation and rehabilitations in the region.
The AAMSU said that riot affected peoples are still deprived from getting proper compensations from government.The AAMSU demanded proper distribution of compensation,rehabilitation among affected peoples.
A memorandum was also submitted to Chief Minister of Assam through Kokrajhar DC seeking early solve of the demnads from AAMSU among affected riot victims.
Ajizur Rahman,president of AAMSU demanded proper fulfilment of compensations to the riot affected peoples in the line of Gujrat spirits as government provided compensations.
‘The AAMSU wants proper rehabilitation those who were affected in the BTAD riot so that affected peoples could be regained their life’,Rahman said.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. The incident occurred along ride no. 1 under the Jharbari range of the Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district, where the smuggler was fatally shot while transporting logs on a cycle from deep within the forest.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district.
