Timbers seized in Kokrajhar
:Forest department and SSB in a joint operation seized a truck carrying smuggled team logs in Kokrajhar on Friday. The truck was intercepted at Sonapur Samsingkela area near Champawati River early in the morning.
The smugglers were believed to have brought the timbers from nearby jungle to be seized by a joint team of forest department and SSB.
An wagon R vehicle and two bikes were also recovered from the spot. No one was arrested so far. 'We have input about smuggling of Sal timbers via 31C National Highway late last night and followed the movement if the smuggling able to seized huge amounts of timbers ',said a senior forest department official.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar.
