The incessant rains in the catchment areas of Arunachal Pradesh creates no less havoc in Sonitpur and Biswanath districts of Assam in the form of a ravaging flash flood.
One person met watery grave while nearly 8,000 people have been rendered homeless during the last three days. The situation remains unchanged on Monday. The worst-hit is Chariduwar where many people have been taking shelter in the relief camps.
The flood waters have washed away a 22-year old man at Chariduar. The body was fished out on Monday 24 hours after he was missing.
According to the State Disaster Management Authority, the fresh flood wave has affected Udalguri,Jorhat, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Nagaon and Sonitpur.
In Morigaon, the situation is grave where 24,985 people have been reeling under flood. The figure of affected people stands at 21,679 in Sonitpur district.
