Prabajan Virodhi Manch, a social organization against the immigration issue, has raised serious concern over the Centre’s decision to grant citizenship to the Chakma and Hajong refugees in Arunachal Pradesh.
The convener of the organization Upomanyu Hazarika said on Saturday that finally, these refugees' would come to Assam since Arunachal Pradesh has announced no land rights to these people who migrated from the Chittagang Hills Tracks.
He appreciated the Arunachal Pradesh leadership for half citizenship formula to these Chakma and Hajong refugees after the Supreme court asked the Centre to grant them citizenship triggering massive protest across the north eastern state.
Hazarika, who is a senior lawyer said why the leadership has not been taking any lesson from the Arunachal Pradesh counterpart as it has been grappling with the Bangladeshi immigrants issue.
The Supreme Court very recently asked the Centre to grant citizenship to the Chakma and Hajong refugees much to the major concern for the people who have been dead opposed to thr idea and the state leadership has prevailed upon the formula of half citizenship where these new citizens would not have the land rights.
