Tea students allege reckless tree felling

Assam Tea Tribes Student Association Margherita Branch Committee recently submitted a memorandum to Digboi Forest Division Divisional Officer regarding destruction of precious trees at Tinku pani

Forest reserve under Margherita LAC of Digboi Forest division where Timber Mafias have chopped precious trees regularly with the help Forest department officials.Tilok Murmu and Pranjal Baraik both President and General Secretary of Assam Tea Tribes Student Association Margherita Branch Committee said that on 9 September a Felicitation programme was held at Powai where Dibrugarh MP Rameswar Teli and other distinguished persons have attended the programme where Rameswar Teli said that no body shall be spared who ever destroyed the Forest Resources but now after three months Rameswar Teli warning go in vain.

Pranjal Baraik said that there are many Forest officials who have unholy nexus with Timber Mafias which we demand that a Judicial enquiry should be conducted otherwise in the coming days ATTSA Margherita Branch Committee shall intensify strong agitational programme against Digboi Forest Division and Assam Forest Department.
