Colleges re-clubbed with GU from BU

Kokrajhar,Dec 9: As man as 23 Colleges from BTAD areas  have  re-clubbed with Guwahati University from Bodoland University due to lack of 12B issue setting at rest the huge confusion among the  students. But,the semester examination in Bodoland Univerity is underway with thin participations.

 The Bodoland University(BU) was set up through the spirit of the historic 2003 BTC Accord to faciliatate higher studies in the region and since then state government established the Bodoland University under State Act. Presently,the BU has been running its own syllabus and calender as per UGC norms and have 45 Colleges which are affiliated so far. But interestingly, 23 affiliated Colleges have been re-clubbed with GU on December 6 through the four-parties-meeting over the current running of the Bodoland University convened by education department and hence students have been reportedly face deprived from seating the semester examination on Friday.

While talking to this Correspondent on Saturday, Prof Hemanta Kumar Baruah,Vice-Chnacelore of the Bodoland University said that the BU has so far not been getting 12B status, so several colleges have been re-clubbed under GU,which was resolved at a meeting held in Guwahati. He said that there are 45 colleges from BTAD region as well its adjoining districts were affiliated under BU,but two-days back 23 Colleges have been re-clubbed to the GU through the minutes of a four-parties-meeting held on December 6.

 

 He said that the BU had been arranged all necessary arrangements to conduct semester examinations,which was started from December 8, but only students from three colleges participated in the examination. He has been revealed that the BU has yet to be getting the 12B status, of which why most of the colleges re-clubbed under GU. He said that students face hardships while attending pursuing their examinations due to non-clear policy on making respective managements in between education department and state governemnt..

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar.
