GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court is unhappy with the way the Dibrugarh police arrested Akhil Gogoi under the National Security Act three months back.
Granting bail to the KMSS leader on Thursday, the bench of Justice Achintya Malla Bujarbaruah said the entire process has some serious lapses which needs to be probed.
Justice Bujarbaruah asked chief secretary to institute a probe into the lapses. He said the advisery panel was too late to approve the arrest of Akhil Gogoi under NSA.
He further strongly criticized the authority for it's delay in informing it to the Centre. The laid down rule of law was not followed, he said.
Then the court, which headed the bail petition for seven days squashed the arrest order helping Akhil Gogoi walk out of the Dibrugarh Central Jail in the afternoon.
Gogoi was arrested under NSA after he, at a public meeting, urged the people in Moran to remain prepared for an armed struggle prompting police to register a case against him under NSA.
