GUWAHATI: Only a day is left for Assam to publish the first piece of NRC draft forcing the authority to work in a war footing manner. Verifying officials are busy with final touch since the draft would be published at midnight on Sunday. Security forces are fanning in the nook and corner of the vulnerable areas to firmly deal with the possible untoward incident even after the authority has appealed to the people to maintain calm.
NRC authority has made it plain and simple that those not in the draft number one need not be worried since works are on to publish the second draft. The Registrar-General of India is all set to publish the list on December 31 to distinguish Indian citizens living in Assam where the foreign nationals who intruded into the state by March 25, 1971.
According to information, the first draft contains the names of nearly two crore people out of 3.28 crore. The draft would be kept for show at the seva kendras and would be in public domain.
