TANGLA: Tangla soaks in the joy of Rongali Bihu along with other parts of the state. The focus falls on the three-day programme by Xadou Tangla Rongali Bihu Xanmilani.
The second day celebration on Monday
was marked with a multi-diverse cultural procession reflecting various
communities was also taken out from the Tangla H.S playground throughout
the town.
Dr. Nani Gopal Sahariah flagged off the cultural troupes of Adivasi,Rabha,Sarania-Kachari,Gorkha communities
besides Bihu Xanmilanis literally portrayed the greater Assamese
society.
Significantly, the people of the town old and young alike came out
in unison irrespective of their class, caste, community and religion
and participated in the rally.
In
the evening a Mukoli Bihu competition and Husori competition was held where
Bihu troops from various parts of state participated.
On the third and final day, a state level marathon race is scheduled
followed by a cultural night in the evening which will be inaugurated by
Joint Secretary,Home and Political Dept. of Assam,Naren Ch. Basumatari.
Udalguri: The second phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Assam saw a significant turnout, with 72.99% of eligible voters casting their ballots across the Darrang-Udalguri Parliamentary Constituency. Voting took place on Friday across 11 Assembly constituencies, including Rangia, Kamalpur, Tamulpur, Goreswar, Bhergaon, Tangla, Udalguri, Mazbat, Sipajhar, Mangaldai, and Dalgaon.
The high turnout was evident from the early morning, as long lines formed outside polling stations, with voters patiently waiting to cast their votes. Notably, there was a strong presence of young and first-time voters, indicating a growing interest among the youth in the democratic process.
