Udalguri joins in 4th International Yoga Day
UDALGURI: Along with the rest of the country, the 4th International Yoga Day was observed in various parts of Udalguri district. The Udalguri district administration in association with the Udalguri Block committee of yoga centre and 14 Gharwal Rifles, organised two hour long yoga camp and awareness meet at Bishnu Rabha Kristi Sangha in Udalguri town which was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri,Dilip Kumar Das in presence of Commanding officer of 14 Garhwal Rifles,Col. Rahul. T. Basak and Tezimala Devi, two yoga instructors of Udalguri. Block yoga centre imparted the yoga training on the occasion. District nodal officer of Yoga under the ministry of Ayush, Dr. Rabin Deka offered vote of thanks to around two hundred trainees. Members of Shristi Yoga centre demonstrated various 'asanas' and 'pranayamas' on the occasion.Meanwhile, yoga day was also observed at schools and colleges,of Bhergson, Tangla, Kalaigaon,Rowta, Orang and Mazbat areas of the district.

UDALGURI: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports of the alleged incident of police atrocities on a doctor in Chirang district on Friday.
AHRC has issued a notice to the District Magistrate, Chirang to cause an inquiry into the incident where media reports stated that the Officer-in-Charge of Amguri PS in Chirang District not only assaulted Dr. Madhurjya Kakati, in-charge of the Amteka Mini PHC but also made him to kneel down along with two others for not wearing masks.

TANGLA: A devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.
Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs to the ground within minutes.
The house belongs to Fakira Ansari, Manik Ali,Bhim Ram,Raj Kumar Prasad,Akon Rabha and Sankar Basfor.

UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
While talking to this correspondent, Mithu Sarksr informed that the NGO has been instrumental to rescue young ones of hog deers, wild elephants, tiger cubs in the near past too and till date, it has been able to rescue such animals which came to their notice.
