Lightning Kills 3

Three persons were killed and six others serious injuried due to lightning at various places in Kokrajhar district on Saturday.

Nareswar Basumatary (55) Lakhan Basumatary (35) of Takumpur, Kachugaon dies when they were struck by lightning in the early morning of Saturday. Manik Basumatary (3) of the same family received serious injury at the same incident.

In another incident,three persons including a six month old baby received serious injuries due to lightning at Kachugaon Mainaguri. A heavy rain and lightning hit Mainaguri under Kachugaon in the early this morning of Saturday. They were identified as Dhoni Brahma (Six month), Madan Narzary (32) and Bina Brahma (45). Injuries were immediately rushed to local hospital, and later referred to Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital.

On Saturday afternoon, in another incident,one Manju Basumatary of Bishmuri Taigirbilw died due to lightening.

Again, two more persons from Durabili and Nabinagar in Kachugaon reached hospital due to lightning injury. They were identified as Dayabati Sabha and Balaii Brahma.

Bee-keeping workshop at Pashighat

Training on Bee-keeping (Apiculture) was organized by the District Agriculture Officer today at the GTC Samity Hall to the extension functionaries under Rasthriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) on Friday. 

In her inaugural speech Y.J. Lego, DAO Pasighat, emphasized on coordinated work between the field functionaries and the Farmers for the overall development of Agriculture in the district. She also emphasized on competitive work culture and asks the field functionaries to put forward their innovative ideas.

The technical session was dealt in length by resource persons Dr M.M. Kumawat, Asst. Prof. (Entomology), College of Horticulture & Forestry, Pasighat and M. Kakki, Agriculture Development Officer, Pasighat.

Altogether six ADO’s and twenty AFA’s of the district participated in the training programme.

 

Three injured in road mishap

Three persons received injuries following road mishap met at Nikashi under Mushalpur PS of Baksa district on Thursday.

According to eye witnesses of the incident, a Swift Dzire vehicle fall to near by pond due to brake fail while giving side for a speedy bike at Nikashi and three persons,including driver of the vehicle received injuries. Two of the injuries were professors of Nikashi Gyanpith Degree College.Identified as Bikash Bhatta,Alpana Das and Apurba Patgiri(Driver).Injures were rushed to hospital.

Corramore students get new building

The new school building of Corramore TE LP school was inaugurated on September 20 to much delight of the students and teachers.The building was inaugurated by Ramani Barua while Atul Sarma,Headmaster of the school prsided over the inaugural ceremony which was also attended by students and teachers of nearby schools of Corramore and Hatigarh.Ranjit Tanti, principal, Bright Star English School, Hatigarh attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion he recalled difficult days of the school during 2009, when even after the government approval, Corramore tea garden management didn't allow construction of the school building.

He expressed regret that no organization or individuals had come forward for the cause of construction of the school building since 2009 to 2016.It was only in 2016,that tea garden management was convinced to issue NOC in favor of the school. Tanti requested parents, teachers, union leaders and local youths to care of the school for the better future of the children of the locality.
