Abhi - Neel murder case: Court declares two witness hostile
Nagaon: The Chief Judicial Magistrate court Nagaon declared two witness namely Numal Basumatari and Ujjal Mesh of Abhi Neel case as hostile. Both of the witness changed their earlier statement given in the court and before police' But court accepted their earlier statement and not allowed to change. The next date of hearing is fixed 12 July by the court.

Hundreds of employees from Assam Gramin Vikash Bank(AGVB) staged dharna with banner,placards in front of Regional Office of AGVB at Kokrajhar along the RNB Road today in Kokrajhar demanding solutions of various grievances including regularisation of jobs,pension and retrial benefits to the employees.
The employees union members from five districts Goalpara,Bongaigaon,Chirang,Dhubri and Kokrajhar participated the dharna and demanded early solutions of employees and was dharna was organised under the banner of Joint Forum Gramin Bank Union to press the government for meeting of solutions of various grivances of the employees as employees of the banks have been deprived from various scopes and benefitted allotted from RRBs.
The bank employees shouted slogans demanding early solution of employees who are working in the banks with cheap salaries,making proper facilities to he employees,regularise the sanitation/PTS posts.
Kausik Saha,secretary of regional union of Joint Forum Gramin Bank Union demanded that employees of the AGVB have been deprived from regularization since long years and urged the govt to solve problems of the employees.He said that government and management are not interested to solve problems of the employees.
The union has also warned for vigorous agitation if their demands are not meet early.

Sacked education minister Ripun Bora along with his two associates now in CBI custody would be produced before a special court on Saturday morning.
The investigating agency who booked Mr Bora along with businessman Ramesh Maheswari and journalist Mukul Pathak would be produced before the special court at Tis Hazari before 12 noon.
On the other hand, the journalist was produced before the Tis Hazari Court on Friday and was remanded to one days CBI custody.
The trio were arrested on Tuesday last in New Delhi and Guwahati respectively while they were trying to bribe a CBI official who was probing the Danial Topno murder case with Rs 10 lakh. Caught in this vicious acrimonious situation, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi suggested Governor Lt General (Retd.) Ajay Kumar Singh to drop him from the cabinet which was done accordingly.

Under the aegis of Directorate of Cultural Affairs and Assam State Film Finance and Development Corporation (ASFFDC), Film Award Festival -2010, was formally declared open by Assam Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi at the Rabindra Bhawan on March 10 last. The celebration of 75 years of Assamese cinema was graced by presence of a number of dignitaries in the field, prominent among them were Parikshit Sahani, Seema Guha and Jahnu Baruah.
Veteran film director, Jahnu Baruah conferred Pabitra Kumar Deka Memorial Award for the best film critic announced by the Assam Cultural Affairs department on Assamese films, to Azhar Alam, a senior journalist of Pratah Khabar, a Hindi Daily, published from Guwahati, on this occasion. This award was given to Azhar Alam for his book in Hindi ‘Asomiya Filmon Ka Safarnama’, published in the year 2007. The Award consists of a citation, memento and a sum of Rs.20,000. It may be noted in this connection that it was the first time this award was announced, which has gone to a film critic on his book in Hindi. Azhar Alam’s friends, colleagues and those who know him have congratulated him on his achievement and wished more success in future.
