Santhali Hull Day celebrated in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: The 164th National Integration Day of Adivashi was celebrated today as the day "Santhali Hull Day " with day long programme scheduled at Joypur ground in Kokrajhar district on Sunday. The day was organised by Adivashi National Convention, an umbrella organization of Adivashi community organizations.

The day has been celebrating every year on June 30 to discuss on the cultural and aspects of community uplift and development in the state as freedom fighters like Siddhu Murmu and Kanhu Murmu fought against the Britishers and led the Adivsshi peoples to stand unite against the Britishers on 30 June 1855 and since then every year celebrating the day as Hull Divash.

President of Adivashi National Convention Boyal Hembrom hoisted the celebration flag in the morning followed by homage to martyrs by Hopna Soren,secretary of Adivashi Seva Samiti.

An open session was also organized on the occasion with Ananius Hembrom,president of the celebration committee in the chair.

Noted social activist from New Delhi,Dominic Marandi,retired IAS Ramanus Horo,president of ANPA Bijay Tiru,BCF chairman Durga Hasda were graced as guests on the occasion.

Cultural troupes from Adivashi community presented beautiful attractive cultural showcase on the occasion.

President of the ANC , Boyal Hembrom told that Adivashi peoples are celebrating the Hull Divash every year to make recalling the contributions of the Siddhu Murmu and Kanhu Murmu who had rendered their sacrificed their lives for the caused of the freedom of India country.He said that even though Adivashis had rendered lots contributions to the mother land of India,but till today no welfare and proper development saw among Adivashis in the state of Assam.

He has accused government has no keen interest to make proper welfare and development in the state and so Adivashis are seeing behind under backwardness.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar. Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district.
