Eight Projects Selected for the State Level NCSC 2019

The Kamrup Metro District level National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) 2019 was held at Panbazar Higher Secondary School on 22nd September last.

Total 72 teams, each consists of two nos. of child-scientist from  different schools of the Kamrup Metro District presented their project reports at the district congress.

From amongst them, eight projects are selected as representatives from Kamrup (M) District for the state level meet of 27th National Children’s Science Congress to be held at Jawahar Novoday Vidyalay, Rangajaan  in Doomdooma from 1st to 4th November 2019.

Selected projects are as follows:

  1. Advance Blind Stick –by Kridip Jyoti Mudoi and Bitopan Nath of Maharshi Vidya Mandir Sr. Secondary School , Silpukhuri.
  2. Bio Brush-by Ashif I Rahman and Sonam Shannigrahi of Axel Public School, Lokhara.
  3. Cost Efficient Portable Water Purifier-by Bhargav Das and Abhinav Dubey of Maharshi Vidya Mandir Sr. Secondary School, Silpukhuri.
  4. Hand Sensitisation to Control Common Diseases-by Dhrubajyoti Medhi and Dibyajyoti Kumar of Sankardev Sishu Niketan,Khetri.
  5. Natural Dye from Used Flower-Krishna Das and Barsha Talukdar of Kamakhya Higher Secondary School,Kamakhya.
  6. Role of Different Insects in Grass Ecosystem of Mitani- by Dipty Deka and Juntara Deka of Mitani Rewa Maheswar High School, Mitani.
  7. Separation of Plastic from the Drain Water- by George Jigyas Bordoli and Siddharth Bharadwaj of Asam Jatiya Bidyalay,Noonmati.
  8. Waste to Wealth- by Srizon Boruah and Manash Pratim Deka of Asam Jatiya Bidyalay,Noonmati.

It needs mention here that the main objective of National Children’s Science Congress is to inculcate scientific temper among the children through the use and internalisation of the method of science that is the system of  observation, experimentation ,collection of data, analysis of data  and then arriving at a conclusions. It is not a competition. As per the guidelines of the programme, only team leader of a selected projects may  attend the State event.

National Council for Science and Technology Communications, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India with the active cooperation of a good numbers of voluntary science-activists and some NGOs have been organising the programme throughout the country. Assam Science,Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) in association with  three NGOs BJVJ,SSEAP and STO is the state co-ordinating agency of NCSC in Assam.
