Guwahati: A slogan by a section of AIUDF supporters to receive a delegation of party leaders in Silchar airport creates no less confusion and controversy in the state’s pre poll political landscape.

Ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma, his close aide and junior minister Piyush Hazarika alleged that a section of AIUDF workers greeted Badaruddin Ajmal and his party leaders at the airport on Thursday with Pakistan Zindabad slogan.

“Look at the brazenness of these fundamentalists anti-national people who are shouting PAKISTAN ZINDABAD while they welcome MP Badruddin Ajmal. This thoroughly exposes INC India which is encouraging such forces by forging an alliance. We shall fight them tooth & nail. Jai Hind,”tweeted Himanta Biswa Sarma.

“These people anti national elements. How they can shout the slogan like this. Badaruddin Ajmal still is a Bangladehsi,” said Piyush Hazarika on Friday.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi questioned the role of police and para military forces who were on duty at the airport. Gogoi said,” what the policemen were doing if they were raising the highly objectionable slogan. Why there was no on the spot allegation? I would dare the police to arrest these AIUDF supporters if they raised these slogans.”

Meanwhile, AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam said that the supporters were shouting Aziz Khan Zindabad and that never they did raised any slogan in support of Pakistan. He further castigated BJP for desperately trying to extract political mileage thereof.
