Gwthar Bathou San (Bathou Divosh) Marks a Grand Affair Across BTAD

The vibrant festivities of Gwthar Bathou San (Bathou Divosh) echoed across the districts of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and the entire state as it was celebrated with traditional fervor on Tuesday. The state government declared this day as a state holiday, emphasizing the significance of preserving and cherishing the rich cultural heritage associated with Bathou tradition.

Gwthar Bathou San-2024 (Bathou Divosh) unfolded with religious zeal on the second Tuesday of the Magh month, a day that will now be commemorated annually as a full-fledged holiday. The celebrations resonated with the essence of festivity, bringing together people from diverse communities in the spirit of unity.

In Kokrajhar, the Bathou San festivities took place at Bathou Thansali Baganshali, orchestrated by the Bathou Traditional & Cultural Center, Kokrajhar. Devotees and people from various communities congregated at the Thansali to offer worship and prayers to Bwrai Bathou (Lord Shiva). The day commenced with the hoisting of the Bathou flag, followed by the floral tribute (Gwtwi Shi Baonai) at the Bathou Thansali.

The celebration featured traditional music instruments such as Kham, Sifhumg, and Jota, adding a cultural flair to the event. Attendees participated enthusiastically, offering their workshops and prayers to honor the revered Bwrai Bathou.

In Tamulpur, Pramod Boro, the Chief Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), graced the occasion as the chief guest at Hirimba Bathou Thansali. CEM Boro extended greetings and best wishes to all Bathou followers, emphasizing the significance of Bathouism as the aboriginal religion of the Bodos.

Boro underscored the importance of preserving Bathouism, stating, "Bodos must keep alive the essence of Bathouism, which is regarded as the identity of the Bodo people through language, culture, and religion." He urged the community to propagate Bathou religion globally, ensuring its popularity and recognition.

In Udalguri, Bathou Divosh unfolded at various Thansalis with traditional rituals, drawing a massive crowd from diverse backgrounds. People, adorned in traditional Bodo attire, offered their workshops and prayers to Bwrai Bathou, highlighting the inclusivity and cultural diversity associated with the celebration.

Prominent figures, including Assam Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Bodo Sahitya Sabha President Dr. Surath Narzary, ABSU President Dipen Boro, and MLA Lawrence Islary, extended their heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all Bathou followers on the auspicious occasion of Gwthar Bathou San.

ISPL 2022: Bodoland lifts trophy

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district. Amid a strict security vigil, arrested Gujrat Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani was brought to Kokrajhar police station and later produced before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court.
