Assam PMGSY to complete by March 31

The Golaghat MLA and the PWD Minister Ajanta Neog got rough to those civil and road construction contractors who were found lackdaisical and had not completed the construction work allotted to them within the stipulated period of time as per specification. The Minister was reported to have undertaken a series of inspection tour in almost all the districts of the state to take stock of progress of the work under PMGSY being done by her department. The minister asked the officers of her department at state and as well as at district and sub divisional level to complete all projects by March 31, 2010.The PWD Commissioner and the Principal Secretary Mr. M.C. Boro, the Chief Engineer Mr. J.N. Talukdar accompanied the Minister Mrs Neoga.


While talking to media persons at Golaghat as well as of different district level the Minister Neog told that the Government was ambitiously getting forward with its work to meet the target of Constructing 8,000 KM of roads in the rural areas by 2009-2010 under PMGSY to make it easy for the village commuters to travel to their work places. Moreover the broken wooden bridges would be replaced by the ‘Pacca’ bridges under the RCC bridge Construction scheme of the State Chief Minister.


It may be mentioned that in view of the fast approaching the State Assembly election the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi was reported to have asked all the Ministers to engaged themselves by leaps and bounds to implement the development programs of the Government. Following the directives of the CM the ministers are seen in their respective constituencies surveying the progress of the development work earmarked by both the central and the State Government.
