Mousham and Sangita bring glory to Barpeta


Barpeta district shines in the HSLC results that was declared on May 20. 10 candidates shined in the top 20. Jugal Talukdar stood first position from Choukhuti High school. Two candidates from Barpeta Sankardev Vidya Niketan stood 9th and 17th position. Mousham Das who stood 9th position is the son of Chakradhar Das, Assam Gramin VIkash Bank employee and Anjali Das. Talking to this correspondent, Mousham said that he expected more than this result, he was not satisfied with his results. He studied 6-7 hours in a day and his parents and teachers are his main source of inspiration. "Ashidinat Prithivi Paribhraman" by Jul Vern is his favorite book. He wants to be a doctor and will admit either in M.C. College, Barpeta or in Cotton college, Guwahati. He secured a total of 560 - Eng- 95, As- 82, Gs- 98, SS- 90, Adv Maths- 96, Gm- 96. He had private tuition in GM, AM ENG and As.


On the contrary Sangita Devi stood 17th position from the same school in Barpeta. She is the daughter of Kumud Sarma, eletrical engineetr, Barpeta and Kalpana Devi. Talking to this cporrespondent she expressed that she got more than her expectation. She secured a total of 552 -As- 80, Eng-89, GS-97, SS- 92, Adv Maths- 97, GM- 97. She will read at pathsala junior college and want to be a doctor in future,. " Chiraj" is her favourite book and Lakshminath Bezbaruah is her favorite author. Mentionable that this year 120 candidates will be able to shine in the top 20. Among those except the above Dipangkali sarma stood 4th position from Sarupeta High school,Barpeta( Total marks 565), 15th position by Rui Das, Sarupeta Sishu Sankar Niketan,Sarupeta, Barpeta( Total Marks- 554), Abinash Das stood 16th position From Pathsala Sikshapith, Adarsha High school, Barpeta( Total Marks-553), Again 16th podsition by Gunajit Deka of Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Bahari, Barpet( Total Marks - 553), Debajit Talukdar,- 19th position from Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Bhawanipur, Barpeta ( Total Marks- 550), 19th Position- Bubumani kalita from Sankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan, Pathasala, Barpeta( Total Marks -550), and Suranjana Patowary ,from St. Mary's High School,Barpeta road, Barpeta( Total Marks-549).


THis year a total of 15,202 candidates appeared in the HSLC examination and among those 1081 -1st div, 2204-2nd div., and 7948 -3rd div. The percentage f passing in the entire district is 73.89. Barpeta district is in third positiion in the state

The situation in and around Bahari in Barpeta continues to remain tense for the consecutive four days even as a BJP called twelve hour Barpeta district bandh on Wednesday. Though the bandh was by and large peaceful, situation in Chenga in the district went almost out of control before noon and police had to fire several rounds of bullets and teargas shells in the air to disperse the bandh supporters.
