Himanta's open challenge to PK Mahanta
Not so long ago, in the month of July when RTI activist and KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi alleged corruption charges on Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the minister showed his eagerness to contest against former CM Prafulla Kr. Mahanta in his home constituency Barhampur. On Monday he went a step forward and expressed his willingness on a public meeting held at Puranigudam in Nagaon district. Infact the health minister offered an open challenge to the former CM in his home turf for the 2011 Assembly election.
The AGP workers and supporters seemed to be happy at this challenge as they believe that even a leader of national stature cannot defeat Mahanta on his home ground. However, the same cannot be said for the Congress camp as lots of insecurity prevails among those who are on the race of seeking ticket for Congress in the constituency. However, there is no official confirmation from Congress on this matter. Things will get clear as election date comes closer.
