Noted litterateur Rebato Mohan Dutta Chaudhory, popularly known as Shilabhadra, is ailing. His health condition deteriorated on Thursday morning and he was rushed to the Down Town Hospital for treatment. Mr Chaudhory is a retired professor with the Assam Engineering College, Jorhat.

Suspected Adivasi militants strike with a powerful explosion on a railway tract in Bokajan in Karbi Anglong district damaging the Kamrup Express on Tuesday.According to information, it was an improvised explosive device which missed the Kamrup Express target and exploded at Gharialdubi near Bokajan. Rangapara back normal

Rangapara is back to normalcy. The curfew has been relaxed for several hours but tension still prevails. Police, army and para miltary troops are still patrolling on the streets apprehending any untoward incident.The curfew was clamped on November 28 following large scale violence in the area between Adivasi people and local residents during protest by the Adivasi people which left several people injured besides many vehicles damaged.

Beltola violence: Govt to order CBI probe

The Assam government will order a CBI probe in to the recent mob violence at Beltola, Guwahati.Disclosing this, Assam Chief Minister said on Saturday that the CBI probe will unearth what went wrong.
