Nagaon Traffic Police acting on a tip off recovered a huge quantity of High Quality Manipuri Ganja in a raid at NH 36 near Oriyagaon in Nagaon on Wednesday and apprehended two persons namely Lokendra Singh, Subash Chandra both said to be resident of Imphal.
The Drug was hidden beneath the seats and even the disel tank of the vehicle.
The Ganja was being carried from Imphal to Guwahati to be delivered to one Mustafa of Patna according to the accussed.
The Ganja was being brought in a Mahendra SUV Bearing a government of India mark on the number plate.
The value of the Ganja is believed to be more than 30 lakh in the market.

Around 3.30 pm my subordinate Kabir Singh Limbu of Nagaon Trafic Policegot the Information. Then we made two teams and setup at oriyagaon and when the vehicle came we are able to stop the vehicle at the chowk.
They have put up the Govt. of India Number Plate so that no body can suspect them, even they are carrying the number Plates of Nagaland, Manipur, West Bengal and Assam Govts. After questioning they have confessed that they have carried approx 200 k.g of Ganja.
This is one of the biggest haul of the banned drug that has been recoverd by the Police in recent times.

A bomb hoax triggered huge panic in Nagaon on Monday forcing the deployment of security to deal with the situation arising thereof. The hoax originated from an unmanned object spotted lying at the District Court premises in the morning. Those inside and outside the office mistaken it as bomb and allowed the panic to spread. Policemen came and checked the object with a metal detector. But it was a plastic object which was not explosive.

The pot holed and the crumbled bridge near Nagaon Law College, Haibargaon took the life of on Faruk as he was crossing the bridge sitting in a rickshaw, the tyre of the rickshaw fell in one of the many pot holes in the small wooden bridge and the rickshaw toppled and Faruk fell down from the bridge as the railing of the bridge had already been broken and fallen off. The bridge is one of the most important bridges of the town as lagre number of commuters specially school children and others cross it on a daily basis. The bridge has been closed after the incident.

A Rhino has been killed by poachers in Kaziranga National Park and its horn has been cut off and taken away. An LPG Cylinder of domestic use got burst on Thursday night at the house of one Ibrahim Ali. Injuring 5 persons of the family during the blast. The injured are being treated in Nagaon Civil Hospital.
