Eid Mubarak

The festival season has been set into motion with the celebration of Eid-Ul-Fitr today. The Muslims the world over assemble in various mosques and Iddgahs in order to offer Namaj and express their gratitude to Allah on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. The preparations for this joyous occasion start days in advance as devout muslims end the month long Ramadan fast. The word Eid signifies “greatest happiness” and Fitr stands for ‘breaking Fast”. The month of Ramadan is a sacred one for the Muslims, because it was in this month that the revealation of the holy Quran began and fasting as an obligatory institution was prescribed by Allah.

But today the celebrations and festivities are marred by incidents of violence as the world today is reeling under the onslaughts of violence in various forms. Recently the sanctity of the holy shrine of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chistie of Ajmer was destroyed by the recent attack on it by terrorist bombs. Two persons were killerd and seventeen others were injured in the incident, all pilgrims to the holy shrine who had visited the shrine on the holy month of Ramadan. Both the Hindu and the Muslim community holds the mosque in reverence and visit it in hoards every day. Terrorists are increasingly making such holy places targets of their attacks as earlier also the Akshaya Dham Temple in Gujarat, Shakti Mochan Temple in Varanasi, Hamidiya mosque in Malegaon and even the Kamakhya temple in Guwahati have been targeted in the past.

The fear of attacks has led the state government in Assam to beef up the security measures in the state on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Police personnel have ben deployed at all religious sites in the city while the traffice would also be regulated and parking areas monitored.

Nowadays security is the first priority of people during any kind of festivities be it Eid or Durga puja. Such are the times that devotion has taken a backseat thanks to the disturbed times and acts of violent terrorism.

However, on the occasion of the holy festival of Eid lets pray to Allah to reward us for our good deeds and show the path of righteousness to the sinners. Amen.

In school, there are two major methodologies, that are more prevalent, THEORY AND PRACTICAL. But in life there is only one and that is FAITH. Unfortunately, in these times, everyone is out to prove that the order which they follow is the best. And what is happening in these days is not unexpected. I remember when I went to a DARGAH with another friend of mine, and it was after couple of years the Ayodhya incident. When we came out, he pointed out ‘Buddy, look at this place, you will find the same people fighting out there for Mandir, but will never forget to come here every Thursday and lit the lamp to fulfill their wishes, We are very selfish people, we fight out there for mandir, but will come to Dargah every Thursday to fulfill our for demands.’ And I am not talking about one Khwaja Moinuddin Chistie of Ajmer,, go to any, in any city, you will find people from various walks of life demanding something. We have changed, and so has our social fabric. So much distrust, so much hatred, it’s polluting our lives. As usual different and nice thoughts, Amen

Assam is one of the major producers of tea in India. Since its dicovery in the year 1823 Assam tea has traversed a long distance. Before the commercialization of tea began in Assam, the leaves of the tea plant were chewed by the local villagers with little or no processing. This still continues in certain inaccessible regions of southeastern Assam, as well as in neighboring regions of Myanmar. Robert Bruce is said to be the person who re-discovered the tea plant growing wild in the region at the behest of nobleman, Maniram Dewan and before his death in 1825, Robert passed on his knowledge to his brother Charles, who sent seeds of the plant to Calcutta in 1831.In 1833 the British lost...

The arctic ices are melting and so are the glaciers, the result global warming. Global warming is the increase in the average temperatures of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans in recent decades and its projected continuation. Global average air temperature near the Earth's surface rose alarmingly during the past century. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes, "most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations," which leads to warming of the surface and lower atmosphere by increasing the greenhouse effect. Natural phenomena...
