AASA bans entry of political leaders

he All Assam Adivasi Students Association (AASA) will prevent the political leaders from entering into their areas. And that too in the run up to the panchayat polls.

Speaking to Aassam Times, the student body leaders here say the decision has come up following the recent mob violence in Beltola and all political parties are mired in blame game.

“Over the years, not even a single political party in Assam have been serious about the problems confronting us for years. They only deceive us by making false promises in the time of elections,” they rue.

The leaders her said they will be observing black day across the state on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in protest against the recent mob attack on the Adivasi protesters.

Tribals have remained traditionally loyal to Congress party. In they last 10 years BJP has mad dents in the tribal base by instigating Hindu religious sentiments. The net result is that tribals have been cheated and stabbed in the back by both these parties dominated by upper caste people. Tribals have become just a vote bank in the hands of Congress and BJP. AASA has decided rightly to ban entry of political leaders of the present breed. In my opinion, tribals must come out from Congress and BJP as well as other political parties and stand of their own. Other parties will use them for votes but turn their back on the tribal matters. IT is High time the TRIBAL STUDENTS stand of their own on politics and the community especially must support them to start a self reliant new political path. Remember it is the youths who are the future guardians of the society. The elders have already damaged the society by sticking to Congress and later BJP who in the name of industry and mainstream, pushed the tribal community in the verge of losing their ancestor lands, customs, language although the Constitution of India provides protection on these matters. Baba Ambedkar fought to incorporate these provisions in the constitution as he could foresee that upper caste people will not allow the adivasi, dalits, OBC people to rise at par with upper caste. The killings of adivasis is the proof. In other parts dalits and OBC people are always tortured like adivasis. Let us unite. New breed of politicians must be produced by discarding BJP,CONGRESS and other political parties who downplay SC, ST, OBC interests.
