The entire state erupts in an all out drive against Bangladeshi immigrants after the influx awareness drive. Local residents in Sivasagar district have apprehended five suspected immigrants and handed them over to police on Friday. They were held at Namtola near Sonari in the wee hours and later were handed over to police. Local residents have claimed that they had no convincing evidence.

Detection, arrest and deportation of illegal immigrants should be done by the police and the Govt.It appears that the Assam Govt is not much interested in the matter.Public taking up the matter directly may create law and order problems.The Centre should rise to the occasions to govern this country properly.

The Bangladeshi immigration is continuing unabated in the Northeast. In what was considered to be a problem primarily in Assam seems to be extending to the other states of Northeast as well. The latest to join Assam and Tripura in this problem is Arunachal Pradesh.
