At this time of disbelief, mistrust and unrest among various groups in Assam, a number of organizations have been working selflessly to foster brotherhood and Milita Shilpi Samaj is one of them. The prime objective of this organization, which was founded way back in 1960 in the historic township of Sivasagar, is to bind humanity together through propagation of culture and sports. During the two and half score of years of its stay, the organization has been striving hard to fulfill its avowed objectives. Some of its regular activities include staging of theatrical performance in Assam in particular and different places of India in general, holding of games and sports among the North Eastern states of India and other socio-cultural activities. It had organized panchayat level football competition, friendly football matches with teams of neighboring states, celebrating Shilpi Divas, felicitation of artist, financial assistance to the needy artists and the like.
While everybody is focused more on problem than on solution, this organization through organizing sports and cultural activities, has in fact come up with innumerable innovative ideas and strive meticulously for social, cultural and political goodwill and co-operation. Of late under the dynamic leadership of its sports and cultural secretary Mr. Sameer Gogoi this organization has taken a number of innovative activities to foster and reaffirm the age-old friendly relationship amongst different ethnic and religious groups of Assam. Recently it has organized a special public cultural celebration at Sivasagar in collaboration with prestigious Trend MMS group in order to galvanize the people of different ethnic groups to promote peace and harmony in the region.
