Resentment over ticket distribution of Dima Hasao district congress

The members of youth congress and senior congress member  of Dima Hasao district congress expressed strong resentment over the interference of minister in distribution of party tickets and the manner in which the party tickets were distributed as the congress candidates in the forthcoming election to 11th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council scheduled to be held on May 20th next.

They said the congress had done injustice to the members of youth congress, Sevadol and even the Mahila Congress. Not a single member from the youth, Sevadol and Mahila congress of Dima Hasao district was given the party ticket for the reasons best known to them.

They also alleged that few ministers has played a dubious role in the process of ticket distribution terming the process as interference in the 6th schedule and argued when the Dima Hasao was suffering a lot, why not a single minister feel it necessary to visit the district. 

Following such injustice, they have decided to tender their resignation immediately and join any other party and contest the election.

Talking to this correspondent, Jhon Poitong, congress aspirant from Dolong constituency disclosed that even till morning his name was there in the list but at last moment, his name disappeared. He said, such distribution of tickets may be the prime cause of loosing maximum seats by the congress candidates.

Jivraj Daolagupu, President, Youth Congress said ‘It was a matter of great regret that the members of youth congress were denied the party tickets best known to them’. Meanwhile most of the members will tender their resignation and contest the election as independent candidate.

Meanwhile as many 34 numbers of candidates mostly from as independent filed the nominations in different constituencies. Sri Mohet Hojai has also filed the nomination as Hills State Democratic party candidate from Kalacnad constituency fro where Jewel @ Mihir Gorlosa former Chairman, DHD(J) is also contesting.
