Tissue Culture laboratory at Cachar
In an attempt to supply quality disease free planting material to the farmers, a Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory has been set-up by Sreedhar Apex Biotech in Bagbahar (Dwarbond) village of Cachar under Horticulture Mission for North-East and Himalayan States (HMNEHS) 2012-13.This Laboratory will be inaugurate by Nilamani Sen Deka, Minister of Agriculture, Horticulture and Food Processing, Assam on July 10 next.
This Tissue Culture Lab is the first Private Sector laboratory of its kind and is sponsored by Directorate of Horticulture and Food Processing, Assam under HMNEHS 2012-13.
This laboratory is expected to supply 15 Lakhs quality planting materials of various Horticultural Crops like Banana, Orange, Kiwi, Pineapple, Anthurium, Orchids and many more.
This is going to be a boon for horticultural and food processing in ASSAM and neighboring states as lack of quality planting materials and shortage of quality raw materials is considered to be a major problem in horticultural development and food processing industries and this High-Tech State of the Art will produce Disease free, Uniform , True to Type and High Yielding Plants of different crops by the sophisticated biotechnological process of Tissue Culture which is well established in the world.
This laboratory has been set up by Sreedhar Apex Biotech which is promoted by a young first generation technopreneur. This initiative of Directorate of Horticulture and Food Processing, Assam is also expected to be a boon for the development of entrepreneurial spirit among the youths of this region.

The agriculture department steps up measures to firmly deal with the army worms which wreak huge havocs in many parts of the state. In a letter to District Agricultural Officers and other officials, the department said that army worms or swarming caterpillars have manifested in different areas of the State. Steps like deployment of spraying squads in affected areas have been directed.
