Guwahati seems to have wore a fresh look. But why? Roads are being repaired, street lights in the city start dazzling in broad day light. The answer is simple. President Pranab Mukherjee is on a two days visit to the north east beginning from Monday.
Official sources told Assam Times that Mukherjee is scheduled to land at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi international airport at 2-30 in the afternoon to be received by Governor JB Patnaik along with senior ministers.
After a brief halt, Mukherjee will leave for Shillong where he is scheduled to visit the Don Bosco musum. After spending the night at the Raj Bhawan, he is scheduled to attend the convocation ceremony of North East Hills University in the morning. Then he would be back to Guwahati to attend the North East Bar Association function at the Rabindra Bhawan in the afternoon. On Monday and Tuesday, Guwahati administration has made some change in the city bus routes to ensure peace and normalcy during the presidential visit.
