ONGC to explore Shale Gas

ONGC will explore for Shale gas which is found in few loations acroass India including the northeast. This was  disclosed by the Union Petrolium Minister M. Verappa Moilly, at a press meet held at the conferance hall of the ONGC Assam Asset, Nazira on last November 17. Addressing the press, the minister said that  under the New Exploration Policy 1999, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) had allowed the ONGC and the Oil India Ltd to tap Shale resources in Six Blocks-Cumbay, Assam-Arkan, Gondawara, K.G. Onshore, Cauvery Onshore and Indo-Gangatic basins. ONGC will drill at 10 wells shortly for exploration and commercial production. Shale Gas is used in U.S. and Canada as an alternative to the conventional Oil and Gas.
