65 Field Regiment organizes peace rally at Kalaigaon

On the occasion of the 61st Republic Day,65 Field regiment of Red Horns Division of Army stationed at Kalaigaon organised a huge peace cycle rally followed by plantation of trees and patriotic song and dance programme on January 23 with day long programme at Kalaigaon. The peace cycle rally was flagged off at 9 am by Capt. Govind Yadav,i/c Kalaigaon Army camp where more than 300 youths including girls participated. The cyclists holding play cards with slogans like- stop violence; Peace for all; We want peace etc travelled about 20 kms covering several villages spreading the message of peace.

Another programme of plantation of trees had also been arranged at the premises of Kalaigaon Town LP School where more than 200 saplings were planted. A grand cultural show was arranged at 11 am in association with Kalaguru Cultural Institute of Kalaigaon where various patriotic song and dance items were presented to the delight of the people. the open session of the day was held at 1 pm where several dignitaries including social worker Kami Ram Saharia, Mahendra Saikia, Kamal Prasad Sarma,Krishna Baro, journalist Tankeswar Barua and Keshab Deka,MCLA of BTAD etc attended. Dhiren Deka, president of Kalaguru Cultural Institute offered the vote of thanks at the end.
