Multipurpose sports complex inaugurated at Sorbhog

As a part of its ongoing development initiative programme for the local, a Multi Purpose Sports Complex was inaugurated by Maj Gen NS Ghei, General Officer Commanding Red Horn Division in Sorbhong on Jule 18.

This state of the art Sports complex, equipped with all modern amenities will help nurture the young talent of the state, and will go a long way in fulfilling the aspirations and dreams of the youngsters of the state.  The Army has been undertaking numerous projects on military-civic action programmes that focus on providing opportunities for inclusive growth   for the people of Assam. These programs have provided the multiplier effect to propel growth and development of the region.

This Multi Purpose Sports Complex is a dream come true for the people of Sorbhong which has a talented pool and has produced a number of outstanding sports persons at both the state and national levels.  The indoor stadium has facilities for Basket Ball, Volleyball, Badminton and Table Tennis.   Additionally, the ground adjacent to the complex has been renovated to meet the standard specifications of a football ground.

General Officer Commanding Red Horn Division in his address, highlighted the Indian Army’s efforts in assisting and partnering with the locals and the civil administration in development of the region through various infrastructure projects, creation of sports facilities, Vocational Training Centres, educational projects and the conduct of National Integration Tours. 

Dedicating the sports complex to the people of Sorbhog, the General Officer Commanding reiterated that the sports complex would provide a further impetus for   promoting sporting activities in the region and will go a long way in paving a way for a much more robust, advanced, youth centric and developed region.
