Teok village strikes attention

 A tiny hamlet in Teok area draws the attention the entire country. The abode of 388 families in Jorhat will receive a rare honour at the Independence Day function at Kachari Maidam in Jorhat for exemplary pledge to end tobacco consumption habits among the villagers.

The village now in the limelight is the Jogduar Gayan Gaon which has shown the best examples.

The villagers will be honoured with a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ on Independence Day for their exemplary work.

According to the villagers, they pledged to give up tobacco consumption habit after teachers and students of CKB College with the help of the local administration launched the massive campaign in the village.

Despite some hurdles in the initial stage, the villagers later allowed the anti tobacco campaign to take its grip. /
