BPCPI demands Ranjan release

The demand for immediate release of Ranjan Daimary gathers momentum with a huge rally in Kokrajhar on Sunday asking for prime minister's intervention. The Kokrajhar district committee of the Boro People’s Committee for Peace Initiative organized a peace and protest rally which pulled huge crowd in the town.The rally began from the BTC secretariat and ended in front of the DC office via JD Road demanding early release of D R Nabla, the founding President of National Democratic Front of Boroland.

Thousands of peace activists took part in the rally with banner, placards demanding the early release Daimary and protested the re-arrest and termed it is an act of discriminatory from the Assam Government towards the Boro leaders.

The protestors submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the deputy commissioner seeking his intervention and releasing D. R. Nabla immediately for the sake of peace process and for resolving Boro issue peacefully.

They further demanded measures to stop crime against Boro women and awarding exemplary punishment to the rapists and murderers of Sunita Daimari and Renuka Basumatary namely Gautam Biswas and Umacharan Barman respectively.

Among others, Manu Borgayary President BPCPI, Kokrajhar District, Sudhanya Narzary Secretary and Central Publicity Secretary Dharmadeep Basumatary were present in the rally.
