Tiwa road blockade irks travelers
Normal surface communication on the National Highway No 37 came to a grinding halt on Wednesday in parts of Nagaon and Morigaon districts Tiwa students blocked the road demanding measures under the Sixth Schedule under the Constitution.
Around 200 Tiwa students blocked the NH NO 37 at Dharamtul shouting slogans for the Sixth Schedule. Talking to Assam Times, the protesters said that they would further intensify the struggle to raise the demand.
The protestors did not even spared former chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta who was on his way to Guwahati from Nagaon. His convoy was also was forced to halt along with hundreds of vehicles in the area.
