The Calcutta High Court on Friday refused to grant bail for Sadananda Gogoi whom CBI arrested in September in connection with Saradha scam. A division bench of the High Court straightly rejected the bail petition when it came up for hearing on Friday.
Gogoi’s counsel moved the plea a couple of days back after the Alipore additional judicial magistrate rejected the bail plea acting on CBI’s request that bail for Gogoi would hamper the probe into the multi crore scam.
This has forced Gogoi’s counsel to challenge the lower court’s order before the high court. CBI arrested Gogoi in the first week of September after several days of interrogation. Recently the country’s premier investigation agency named him in the second chargesheet.
