What wrong goes with NE people? Why the trouble torn region fails to get focus even after witnessing so much happenings? Arnab Goswami has the straight answer. The veteran journalist and Times Now boss observed that the people in power in the distant Delhi are least bothered about the region and its people.
In an exclusive session of the Guwahati Lit Fest on Saturday, Goswami said that beyond West Bengal there is nothing to be focus. “Had the carnage been taken place in J&K it would have been a national uproar. West Bengal gets media girl these days because Mamata Banerjee has tussle with Amrit Shah. But Tarun Gogoi’s tussle with Narendra Modi has nothing to do with the national media,” said Goswami.
He further deplored the lack of interest of a section of foreign media towards the region. But former BBC correspondent Sir William Mark Tully and his colleague John Elliot were agreed to some extent only. “BBC gave wide coverage to the Nellie massacre,” said Tully.
Moderated by senior journalist Samudra Gupta Kashyap the session discussed many eye opening aspect of the north eastern region which have yet to get media glare where another senior journalist Rahul Bhattacharya was also present.
