Even by alliance Cong to retain power!

Even by alliance Cong to retain power!

Assembly polls are round the corner forcing the political parties to draw strategies to retain power for the fourth consecutive term.

Congress leadership is trying to dress the party afresh with Anjan Dutta as president. Dutta, who is known for his loyalty to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi finds it quite difficult to refurbish his image after the CBI team probing the ponzi scam quizzed him alleging his involvement in the muli crore scam.

But, he somehow, has been able to deal with the dissidence in the party’s legislative body forcing chief minister Gogoi to accommodate a circle of legislators who have been trying to unseat Gogoi.

On the other hand, Dutta and chief minister Gogoi are believed to have been contemplating to field many new candidates in the assembly polls to get rid of the possible anti incumbency wave. Those to be dropped, mostly, would be the loyalists of Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The party is all prepared to take on BJP for the U turns on a number of issues confronting the state for decades. Narendra Modi’s failure and U turns can to some extent help the party of BJP leaders remain silent.

The Union Budget where Assam allegedly got raw deal would be an added advantage for Congress to take on the ruling party at the Centre. The chief minister has been playing the ration card politics to woo the tea garden voters.

As of now, the ruling party’s poll prospect depends on how the leadership would be able to deal with the state specific issues efficiently.

The ruling party pins hopes on support either from AIUDF or from BPF to form the next government. If AIUDF rejects the offer, then only it would move BPF for support. But the number of AIUDF legislators is expected to be much higher than BPF.
