Assamese travel fiction released

It was a homely meeting organized at Guwahati Press Club that witnessed the release of a travel fiction titled Ontarior Seuj Dalisat (Over Green Carpet of Ontario) and penned by Dr Jagadindra Raychoudhury in presence of several senior journalists. Inaugurating the book, Swapnaneel Barua, a scholar and also a senior bureaucrat of Assam, pointed out that the writer not only documented various events related to his visit to Canada, but also painted a humanist reminiscence with his created characters.

The function, held on 1 July 2015, was also addressed by senior journalists like Hiten Mahanta, Rupam Barua, PJ Barua, Mukul Kalita, Ranen Kumar Goswami, Nava Thakuria and Pramod Kalita. Moderated by journalist Sabita Lahkar, the meeting was graced by acclaimed story writer Jyotish Sikder, professors Anup Talukder & Nirmali Medhi, singers Anindita Choudhury & Kishor Giri and Bitopan & Sneha. A prolific writer, Dr Raychoudhury is an associate professor of B Barua College, Guwahati and contributor to various Assam based newspapers and magazines. A smiling personality Dr Raychoudhury is also a regular participant in various radio programs and television talk shows. Published by Basundhara publication of Hatigaon in Guwahati, the book has 192 pages with a nice cover designed by prominent artist Padma Singha. It is priced at Rs 250/- per copy.

we know or have read many travel related books but "Ontario'r heuj dolisat" is not only a travel experience but is a travel fiction..A great experience as you keep on reading this book and gain new knowledge & issues..we expect many new books from him and wish him success..

 CBI is believed to have found some startling facts on the multi crore Saradha scam when it raided Himanta Biswa Sarma, Anjan Dutta, Sadananda Gogoi and Shankr Baruah. According to sources, CBI officials have been examining the documents seized during the raids in Guwahati on Friday. More raids could be carried out in a day or two.  
The Assam government will improve infrastructure at the Assam-Nagaland border outposts. Security forces deployed there would get sophisticated equipment. This was what a crucial meeting chaired by chief secretary JS Khosla decided hours after two more bodies were found after the violence along the Nagaland border which took the toll to 11. The meeting decided to repair the 81 border outposts and provide additional infrastructure like barracks, fencing, bunkers and facilities for water and sanitation. The work will be executed by the Assam Police Housing Corporation Ltd. under supervision of the state home department.  
The overall flood situation marginally improves on Wednesday with the halt of rains in Arunachal Pradesh. But the level of misery refuses to die down in fifteen affected districts. Police recovered two decomposed bodies from Uriamghat area along the inter-state border, taking the toll in the violence to 11. According to information, the decomposed bodies were buried. They were identified to be of Robet Kaso (40) and Balu Ghatowar (35). On the other hand, over 5,099 people living in relief camps have returned home. Of the 14 relief camps, three have been closed so far.
AIUDF has fielded Abdur Rahim in the Jamunamukh bypolls slated for September 13. The name of AIUDF president Badaruddin Ajmal’s son has been formally announced after the party’s poll panel met in Guwahati on Tuesday.  The Opposition party further announced the name of Mukesh Pandey for Lakhipur while Noor Ahmed Borbhuyan will contest from Silchar constituency. The bypolls will take place from 7 in the morning on September 13 while the results would be available on September 16. The process of filing nomination starts on Wednesday.

 There is no trace of the two school boys even after a month has passed since they have gone missing in Uriamghat. The family members of Ajoy Gaur and Philson Kujur who were believed to have been kidnapped on their way back from the school, moved Uriamghat police station and Ralan police station in Nagaland side. But there is no trace yet. Now the family members have been mounting pressure on the police atleast to recover the bodies for the last rites.      
A judicial enquiry will unearth the truth behind the killing of school girl Priya Basumatary by NDFB(S) militants who alleged her to be a police informer. The government will officially write to the Gauhati High Court in the next few days. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Nilamani Sen Deka announced it in the assembly on Tuesday as the House discussed the incident. Deka said, “the judicial probe into the killing of Priya Basumatary by NDFB(S) militants. The world ‘immigrant’ created an uproar in the Assam Assembly forcing Speaker Pranab Kumar Gogoi to take prime minister’s name on Tuesday.The uproar on the floor took place during the question hour when BPF MLA Pramila Rani Brahma alleged existence of immigrants in Bodoland Territorial Area Districts.
