The Digital India Week was celebrated in Chirang district with week-long programme from July 1-7 along with rest of the country.
The programme was organized on the theme "Digital Governance for Accountability, Transparency and Speedy Services", in this connection, the Chirang Deputy Commissioner Rupak Kr. Mazumdar held a meeting of district heads of the departments on July 2 at his office and discussed on digital and various IT aspects.
Mazumdar, DC emphasized on e- Governance, providing Govt. services to the citizens in online mode on demand as to transform the district into digitally empowered district. He asked the NIC and AMTRON officials to conduct in office awareness campaign on various e- Technology services in the district. The Chirang NIC District Informatics Officer Surajit Phukan also spoke about the necessity of using e- Technology services in the offices for better public service. He also highlighted about the use of Digital Locker, e-Office project, citizen portal for e- Office project, e- Learning portal, e- Education, e- Health, e-Education, e- Library, etc. in order to ensure tranparency in governance.
As part of the programme, DVDs of open source software WUBUNTU for office use and banners for displaying at all district heads' offices, public places and on vehicles for creating awareness were distributed to the concerned authorities. As such, a rally by students and officials along with painting competition among students were also organised at Bijni and Kajalgaon Sub- Division. On the last day of the programme, on July 7, visit to various Common Service Centres (CSC) and Technical session among officials were held.
