A cultivator died and two others sustained serious injury when lightning struck three different parts of Kokrajhar district on Tuesday.

The first incident took place in Salani Bhatabari near Dotma where Suren Roy died at his field along with his two bullocks.

In the second incident, Seven Brahma of Daloabari was seriously injured near his home. He is battling for life at the Rupnath Brahma Civil hospital.

In yet another incident Abul Ali Sheikh of Monakocha village under Fakirgaram PS was also sustained serious injury while one of his bullocks died. Ali is undergoing treatment at the RNB Civil hospital in Kokrajhar.

Motor vehicle association warns for non-cooperation in election

The owner and members of the Motor Vehicles in Kokrajhar has warned to take non-cooperation during ensuing Assam assembly election in protest against non-payment of 32 crores of hire charge bills and previous bills of vehicles, which are pending for a long time in the district. The Election Observer for Expenditure for 31-Sidli (ST) LAC Jaginder Singh, IRS on Tuesday arrived at Kajalgaon in Chirang district. BJP leader quits

Former president of Kokrajhar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Binati Bala Basumatary resigned from her party membership on Monday.  Basumatary submitted her resignation letter to the state party president citating personal reason . She was Kokrajhar district BJP president for 2011-2015, who had gained strength of the party through her strong leadership in the district. Basumatary's quit of the party ahead assembly election would draw a set back party strength in the Kokrajhar.
