Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday made it plain and simple that his government wants 2014 voter list as one of the supportive documents to update the national registrar of citizens.
Responding to the legislators who asked him to clear his position, Gogoi said that the list would be required if the documents earlier announced by the Supreme Court are not available for an indigenous citizen.
He said that his government has already moved the Supreme Court for consideration which has not so far rejected the affidavit.

Many youths sustained injury after policemen sprang upon them after they turned violent for cancellation of a pre recruitment training programme in Jorhat town on Sunday.
The incident took place at 6 in the morning when over 5000 youths from Jorhat, Sivasagar and Golaghat districts arrived at the Jorhat Stadium in response to an advertisement issued a few days back.

A police constable has sustained serious injury at an encounter with Naga miscreants in Karbi Aglong district on Sunday.
The encounter between police and Naga miscreants took place in the wee hours at Lahorijan area along the Assam-Nagaland interstate border where the miscreants from the neighbouring state have been on encroachment spree.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi has asked the finance department officials to pinpoint the real issues confronting the state to help him prepare a practical budget in June.
Presiding over the emergency meeting of the senior finance and planning department officials in Dispur on Friday, Gogoi said that the budget must reflect the real issues besetting the people for the last few years.
