Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday made it plain and simple that his government wants 2014 voter list as one of the supportive documents to update the national registrar of citizens.
Responding to the legislators who asked him to clear his position, Gogoi said that the list would be required if the documents earlier announced by the Supreme Court are not available for an indigenous citizen.
He said that his government has already moved the Supreme Court for consideration which has not so far rejected the affidavit.

Mr. Tarun Gogoi is going mad because the assembly election of Assam is approaching. He is such a person who knows only vote bank politics. He is a useless Chief Minister of Assam who has no interest to protect the indigenous communities of Assam rather he is ready to protect the illegal Bangladeshis who entered illegally to our land. The vote bank politics of Congress in Assam will lead our state to be part of Bangladesh. Tarun Gogoi will sell Assam to Bangladesh and he along with his family will settlen down in London.
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday claimed to have brought the situation under control in BTAD areas where at least 40 people were killed by unidentified miscreants.Addressing a press conference in Dispur, Gogoi said,” the situation is by and large under control. But feeling of insecurity still grips the people.”He said that the government has confirmed report of 39 deaths and that 22 people have been arrested so far in this connection.“We would contact the SOS village to adopt the children who lost their parents in the bloodletting,” said Gogoi who was shocked to have seen the children of the victims’ family members in Narayannguri and Balapara.
Men-elephant conflict refuses to die down in Assam. After a brief lull, two women lost their lives in two different incidents of attack on men on Thursday.The first incident took place in Guwahati where a hard of wild elephants trampled to death a 50 year old women after damaging her house.The shocking incident took place at Botahghuli area in the city in the wee hours were the elephants suddenly barged into a hut and damaged it after trampling to death a woman who was identified as Phuljan Bibi.In yet another incident on the same hour, wild elephants killed a 65 year old woman at Kothiatoli in Nagaon district.
A truck driver sustained serious injury when his vehicle rammed into a train in Tinsukia on Wednesday.The incident took place at Panitola in the midnight when the speeding truck rammed into the Tinsukia-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express after the driver lost his control.The seriously injured driver was sent to the Assam Medical College Hospital in Dibrugarh.Three coaches of the luxurious train were damaged in the incident and a few passengers sustained minor injury.
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi reviewed the state’s law and order at a high level meeting with Chief Secretary and DGP at Koinadhora in Guwahati on Wednesday.Hours after his BTAD visit, Gogoi talked to chief secretary JS Khosla and DGP Khagen Sarma asking them to be prepared to face any eventuality in BTAD areas after May 16.He further asked the top police officials to keep a close watch on the day to day happenings in the trouble torn BTAD areas where violence is likely to recur May 16.
RASHMITA GOGOI FROM NEW DELHI: The BTAD bloodbath seems to have erupted anger and protest in New Delhi. Hundreds of students staged dharna in front of the Assam House on Wednesday in protest against the bloodletting in BTAD.Holding play cards and banners, the students from JNU and Delhi University thronged in front of Assam Hose and shouted slogans demanding measures to contain the situation.Further, they demanded exemplary punishment for the perpetrators in the carnage where over 50 people were killed and 2000 rendered homeless.

A low intensify explosion seems to have created no less panic in Dhubri on Wednesday.The explosion took place at Bauskata in Fakirganj area in front of a businessman. Over 50 school goers managed to escape tragic death in Guwahati when a bus carrying the students caught fire on Wednesday.The incident took place at Nineth Mile area in Guwahati where a city bus carrying at least 50 students was on its way to the CRPF Kendriya Vidyalaya.The bus driver and his assistant noticed smoke bellowing from the engine and stopped the bus at a stone’s throw distance from the school. Local residents in large number came out to their rescue.They helped the students get down from the bus quickly. Fire extinguishers were deployed inside the bus and thus the situation was brought under control.
