Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday made it plain and simple that his government wants 2014 voter list as one of the supportive documents to update the national registrar of citizens.
Responding to the legislators who asked him to clear his position, Gogoi said that the list would be required if the documents earlier announced by the Supreme Court are not available for an indigenous citizen.
He said that his government has already moved the Supreme Court for consideration which has not so far rejected the affidavit.

Mr. Tarun Gogoi is going mad because the assembly election of Assam is approaching. He is such a person who knows only vote bank politics. He is a useless Chief Minister of Assam who has no interest to protect the indigenous communities of Assam rather he is ready to protect the illegal Bangladeshis who entered illegally to our land. The vote bank politics of Congress in Assam will lead our state to be part of Bangladesh. Tarun Gogoi will sell Assam to Bangladesh and he along with his family will settlen down in London.
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday said that he would reshuffle his council of ministers after the end of the poll process. Talking to reporters in the sidelines of a function in Guwahati, Gogoi said that he would have to contact AICC for reshuffle.“Let the election process end. I will look into it. I will have to talk to AICC after the end of the poll process,” said Gogoi. Gogoi’s remark assumes significance at a time when a circle of party MLAs and minister have been strongly advocating the reshuffle at an earlier date.

In a bizarre incident, a person from Lakhimpur was found dead inside the room of a hotel in Guwahati on Thursday. Identified as Guneswar Chutia, the resident of Naoboisa landed at the Hotel Greenland in Ganeshguri on Wednesday. He was allowed to lodge at the Room No 101. A Naga miscreant was killed in police firing when he along with a few others set on fire a few houses at a tiny hamlet in Diphu bordering Nagaland on Thursday.The incident took place when a group of miscreants sneaked into the hamlet in Diphu and unleashed a reign of terror in the wee hours.A section of these miscreants further resorted to blank firing to disperse the villagers. Security forces seem to have been fanning in and around the Chennai Central Railway Station after two explosions rocked the Guwahati-B’lore Expression on Wednesday morning.Local police have held one person from the railway platform. NSG and NIA teams have also arrived in Chennai to probe the incident. At least 3 people died and twenty others have sustained injury when a powerful blast rocked the Guwahati-B’lore Express in Chennai on Thursday.The explosion took place at the Chennai Central Station at the No 9 platform immediately after the Guwahati-B’lore Express train arrived en route to Guwahati there at 7.10 in the morning.All injured have been rushed to the hospital. Forest guards in Kaziranga National Park had a heavy exchange of firing with poachers hours after a female rhino was killed on Wednesday.The encounter took place near the Rangolu forest in Burhapahar range in the morning hours after forest guards spotted the hornless rhino carcass atop the Kukurakata Hill.The heavy gunbattle lasted for nearly 2 hours.
