Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday made it plain and simple that his government wants 2014 voter list as one of the supportive documents to update the national registrar of citizens.

Responding to the legislators who asked him to clear his position, Gogoi said that the list would be required if the documents earlier announced by the Supreme Court are not available for an indigenous citizen.

He said that his government has already moved the Supreme Court for consideration which has not so far rejected the affidavit.

Mr. Tarun Gogoi is going mad because the assembly election of Assam is approaching. He is such a person who knows only vote bank politics. He is a useless Chief Minister of Assam who has no interest to protect the indigenous communities of Assam rather he is ready to protect the illegal Bangladeshis who entered illegally to our land. The vote bank politics of Congress in Assam will lead our state to be part of Bangladesh. Tarun Gogoi will sell Assam to Bangladesh and he along with his family will settlen down in London.

Akhil procures bail in Titabor

In yet another major breather for KMSS, a lower court in Titabor granted bail to Akhil Gogoi a day after police shifted the KMSS president from Guwahati Central Jail.Judicial magistrate Abhijeet Kumar Baruah, who reserved the bail order on Sunday granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 10,000 on Monday after examining the medical reports of the KMSS president and the case diary filed by the Titabor police.Gogoi was airdashed to Jorhat jail on Sunday after police got transit remand of the KMSS president in connection with the Case No 17/14 registered on February 3.

CM slams BJP for NDFB-S link

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday alleged that BJP has support of NDFB-S to help its Tezpur candidate win the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.Addressing a poll rally in Borhat to campaign for BK Handique, Gogoi said that the secret deal is no longer secret and that the Opposition party has gone to such an extent to ensure the win of the party candidate.Gogoi’s allegation assumed significant hours after a senior BJP leader in Tezpur revealed that a section of the party leaders have reached out to the Bodo insurgent outfits including the anti-talk faction to procure their support.

Massive security for Lok Sabha polls

Assam is gearing up to ensure a free and fair Lok Sabha polls. The state is prepared to procure at least 235 companies of security forces to help the Election Commission ensure smooth conduct of the polls which is slated to begin on April 7.Sources told Assam Times that plan for security deployment is ready and that the state police alone will have over 100 companies to manage the polls.The state at present has 122 companies of central forces and the deployment of 77 companies are on the cards. In addition, the Centre will rush 58 more companies from the Centre.The new companies will comprise ten would be from CISF, 14 from SSB, six from ITBP and 20 companies from the state police forces...
