Thousands of people came out of their houses in Nazira to join the NRC awareness campaign on Saturday. Organized by Nazira AASU unit, the awareness rally got overwhelming response from all sections of the society. Over thousands of AASU activists took part in the rally who appealed to the people to submit their NRC form assoonas possible. Veteran Congress leader in Nazira Tonkeshwar Saikia breath his last at his own residence of Nazira Simaluguri on Thursday. He was 81 and survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter. Saikia, the elder brother of former Assam chief minister Hiteswar Saikia died of prolonged illness. Many political leaders, organizations and individuals have deeply condoled his death.
