Incessant rain paralyzed life in Pasighat
Incessant rain for the last couple of days has paralyzed life in Pasighat and adjoining areas. Hilly rivers and streams are seen overflowing and posing a threat to road communication, paddy fields, horticulture gardens, fishponds, irrigation channels and human habitations. Heavy showers has caused water clogging in several places besides inundating paddy field at Pasighat, Sille, Ruksin and Mebo circles.
Notorious Poglek River, locally known as Pagla river has damaged standing crops in vast areas besides disrupting road communication between Pasighat and Yagrung. Advisor to Chief Minister Bosiram Siram along with Deputy Commissioner Isha Khosla, ZPC Kaling Dai, and PRI leaders and officers dashed to the river site on Friday to oversee the situation and set in motion measures to deal with the situation.
At Pasighat, Advisor Siram along with ZPC, PMC Chief Councilor, Dy. Director and engineers of Urban Development on Saturay visited and observed many inundated places in Airfield, Jarku, Jarkong, Banskota and Police line areas due to lack of proper drainage system. ‘A beneficial project was taken up me but couldn’t materialized due to announcement of model code of conduct last year. However, the work will start soon to develop the areas by Urban Development department. Poor drainage system coupled with bad rain water disposal arrangement only blocked smooth movements in the said areas,” he stated.
