Twenty four after the death of 13 people in NSCN group clash, the Dimapur district in Nagaland is ready to go a joint operation to flush out all rebel outfits. Sources here say, the decision to launch the joint operation was finalised on Wednesday evening. The decision was taken following the frequent inter-factional clashes between the rival factions of the NSCN in spite of repeated suggestions and instructions of the district administration to the underground outfits to vacate civilian places. The meeting was convened by Dimapur Deputy Commissioner and was attended by Nagaland Home Minister Imkong L Imchen, Additional Director General of Police (Operation) O Alem, Dimapur Superintendent of Police Lirimo Lotha, Assam Rifles officials, CRPF, Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) and Nagaland Armed Police (NAP), representatives from Naga Council, Naga Mothers' Association of Dimapur, Gaon Burahs (GB) and Dobhasis (DB) and several tribal Hohos.

The meeting finalised the operation and decided to retaliate if any of the faction resorted to firing while conducting flushing operations.

Sources say the entire Dimapur district had been divided into five zones and the Coordination Group had appointed five Sector Magistrates and five Sector Commanders, which included Assam Rifles, CRPF and NAP. With a view to ensuring security and safety for the citizens, the appointed Magistrates and Commanders would work in co-ordination with ward GBs and DBs.

Narrow escape for security forces

Security forces had a narrow escape when on Sunday morning when an attempt by s joint ULFA-I and NSCN-K team missed the target in Tinsukia district. The incident took place on early in the morning when security forces were moving in the area and as they reached the Jagun area rebels indiscriminately targettef them from the dense jungle who managed to flee immediately. Kaziranga case: Akhil Gogoi arrested

 After days of will-they-won’t-they, police have arrested Akhil Gogoi on Sunday in connection with the recent protest in Kaziranga. A group of policemen caught the KMSS leaders from his residence in Chandmari in Guwahati in the morning charging him with aiding and abetting the people who staged protest against the eviction drive in the world heritage site where two people were killed in police firing.
