Violence rerun in Manipur; house burnt

Manipur is burning. The epicenter is Churachandpur again where women protesters burnt the house of a local leader on Saturday.
The incident took place where women protesters in large number the thronged the house of the Zomi Reunification  Organisation (ZRO) president Thanglianpau Guite New in the New Lamka area. But nobody was there inside it.
Then a section of protesters initially set on fire a vehicle in front of the house while some others stormed into the house premises set afire it forcing the security forces to step in.     
The protestors rued that the Guite has been instigating the hills area MLAs not to resign acting on the mounting pressure from all sides. Seven protestors sustained in the incident while the condition of three of them is said to be serious injured to be admitted in the hospital.
This is the second orgy of violence in the restive north eastern state which broke out last month where 9 persons died when protesters burnt down several houses owned by a section of MLAs hours after the assembly cleared the passage of 3 controversial bills.

Former MLA Karam Thamarjit Singh passed away following a brief illness at Apollo Hospital, New Delhi on Thursday.  He was 46. His body will be brought back to Imphal Saturday. Thamarjit Karam Memmorial Committee, Keirai Assembly Youth Congress Committee and Mahila Block Committee condoled his death. A middle-age woman has been shot to death by unidentified gunmen at Tengnoupal district’s Moreh town bordering Myanmar on Monday.  The deceased has been identified as Ningombam Shanti Devi. An alleged infiltration of militants from Myanmar has forced the Chandel and Ukhrul district administrations in Manipur to imposed 144 CrPC within three km belt along the Indo-Myanmar border.The round-the-clock vigilance is in place after the authorities got the inputs of the infiltration of disturbing elements from across the international border. The Chandal district magistrate Robert Singh Kshetrimayum in an order on October 15 said that 144 CrPC has been imposed acting on the inputs about infiltration from militant groups and illegal commodities.

The fate of the nine bodies of the Churachandpur protestors is still uncertain. Protesters told Assam Times that JPO is taking care of the bodies in the morgue where traditional herbs are being used. The injured people have also been undergoing treatment in the hospitals. JPO have received a donation more than 47 lakhs to help the victims’ family members.
