Breakage at the Subansiri Dam

The cofferdam of the 2000 MW Subansiri Hydropower Project has breakage at around 11.30 AM this morning. Due to this, water level at the Subansiri riverbed has suddenly risen up and washed away several huts located at the bank of the river. More than 100 villages are affected in the downstream of the river. Panigaon is the worst effected area. There is no news of any casualty so far. Due to continuous rains and disrupted communication, no news of the actual situation of that area is available as of now.

National Hydropower Corporation (NHPC) is responsible for the construction of the dam.

Peoples Movement for Subansiri Brahmaputra Valley (PMSBV) has already predicted about today's incident some time back, which becoame true morning.
