ABMSU stages dharna

Hundreds of ABMSU activists and their supporters took part with banner, festoon and placards in a three hours sit-in dharna demanding to stop harassing to the common peoples in the name of D-voters in the state here in front of DC office in Kokrajhar today.

The dharna was organised by ABMSU in association with Kokrajhar district unit.The agitators shouted slogans like Assam govt has hai, stop harassment on common publics while hacking D-voters, besides demanded early implementation of the NRC updation as per scheduled manner. 

A memorandum was later submitted to the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi through Kokrajhar DC demanding early implementation of NRC execution in successful manner, provide fully compensation to the riot victims, who were badly affected in the riots.

Lafikul Islam Ahmed, general secretary of the students union while participating in the dharna said the state govt has been unnecessarily harassing common people in the name of D-voters. He has demanded early stop of unreasonable harassment to the common masses in the name of checking D-voters. 

He has also warned for strong agitation against govt if harassment are not stop in early manner.

The Election Observer for Expenditure for 31-Sidli (ST) LAC Jaginder Singh, IRS on Tuesday arrived at Kajalgaon in Chirang district. BJP leader quits

Former president of Kokrajhar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Binati Bala Basumatary resigned from her party membership on Monday.  Basumatary submitted her resignation letter to the state party president citating personal reason . She was Kokrajhar district BJP president for 2011-2015, who had gained strength of the party through her strong leadership in the district. Basumatary's quit of the party ahead assembly election would draw a set back party strength in the Kokrajhar. Basumatary is likely to join ruling BPF party within couple of days, said a close aid of Binati. 

NDFNB(S) ultras held

Three cadres of the NDFB(S) were arrested by security forces in a joint operation belonging to police and army at Hakata village under Barama PS in Baksa district on Sunday. The cadres were identified as Jwangsar Boro @ KK, Mohit Mushahary and Pramod Ramchiary @ Khankari @Raja   of Baksa district. They were actively involved in extortion, arms smuggling and other nefarious and anti national activities and Adivasi carnage in December(2014) and had run away and sheltered themselves in Chennai, till their return. Two pistols along with 4 live rounds, a hand grenade and three mobile phones were recovered from them. Mohit Misahary is a cadre of 39 Batch NDFB and trained in Myanmar.
